[00:36:19]<bgm>any hints on how to provision import a site already running on the server?
[00:36:38]<bgm>i.e. if I copy the site's "sites/example.org" directory into the aegir platform, and then import it into aegir
[00:36:58]<bgm>I'd prefer avoid having to create a new temporary platform every time i need to do that
[00:37:30]<bgm>i tried "drush provision-import example.org --debug", but it doesn't seem to do anything

[00:40:40]<mig5>you've read the various methods at http://community.aegirproject.org/node/21 ?
[00:41:00]<mig5>generally you can copy/move the site into the relevant platform and re-verify the platform, and it will auto-import the site

[02:35:45]<jamiemcclelland>bgm: thanks for the provision_civicrm stuff - it seems to be working well. i'm trying to use the same method to add additional customizations via /var/aegir/.drush/provision_opb/install.provision.inc however i can't seem to get drush_opb_post_provision_install to run (i have a drush_log statement at the top of the function that doesn't show up in the install task log).
[02:35:53]<jamiemcclelland>any suggestions on where to look?
[02:36:16]<jamiemcclelland>the install log does include a line that is has included /var/aegir/.drush/provision_opb/install.provision.inc
[02:38:10]<anarcat>jamiemcclelland: you need to name your function drush_provision_opb_post_provision_install i believe
[02:38:20]<anarcat>or at least it needs to follow the name of your .drush.inc file
[02:39:41]<jamiemcclelland>anarcat: thanks - i'll work with the function names and see if that does the trick.

[02:55:57]<anarcat>because the module is called civicrm :)
[02:55:59]<anarcat>or drush extension, i should call it

[06:29:17]<dob_>anybody using varnish and apache with aegir
[06:30:44]<bgm>dob_: if you're using ngnix, you should check the barracuda/octopus solution of omega8cc, which works with Aegir

[06:30:52]* V4ntage_ is now known as V4ntage
[06:31:11]<bgm>dob_: but we use just the usual Apache stuff. We also have a pressflow platform, which can integrate with our varnish caches
[06:31:16]<dob_>i don't like barracuda
[06:32:01]<dob_>can i install apache and varnish on the same system?
[06:32:56]<bgm>i think so, but we seperate it, we run the varnish instances on a vserver, it's lightweight
[06:33:07]<bgm>in fact.. not sure
[06:33:27]<bgm>because you need a way to bypass the cache for dynamic stuff, such as logged in users
[06:33:44]<bgm>and we usually use a subdomain for that. not sure if you can just use another port, say, 8080
[06:34:09]<bgm>some users have very silly firewalls that will filter anything but the port 80 or 443
[06:34:59]<dob_>okay
[06:35:28]<dob_>that's not the best solution i think
[06:35:33]<bgm>if you're not very familiar with varnish, it can be messy sometimes..
[06:35:48]<bgm>the boost module can give you 80% of that performance, but in a much more simpler way
[06:35:59]<dob_>alright, i think i will try with nginx again
[06:36:45]<bgm>apache + apc + boost : simpler, imho :)
[06:37:15]<bgm>if you have very high-traffic, you should analyse more broadly that just apache vs ngnix
[06:38:09]<dob_>i am using nginx at the moment, installed i manually with debian packages instead the compile session
[06:39:39]<dob_>what's the installguide to install aegir with apache?
[06:40:34]<dob_>a alright http://community.aegirproject.org/node/400
