[14:02:20]<wickwood>Hello everyone! I've successfully got a site migrated to Baracuda-Octopus-Aegir, except that I can figure out how to get the platform to use the theme's maintenance-page.tpl.php. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I haven't been able to find anything anywhere about it. Normally, $conf['maintenance_theme'] = 'themeName'; would just be uncommented in the settings.php file, but that doesn't appear to be correct here.

[20:54:10]<darthsteven>Aegir will have two sessions at DC London: http://london2011.drupal.org/conference/chosen-sessions
[20:59:15]<mig5>awesome, just saw
[20:59:20]<mig5>sorry your extending aegir session didn't get in??
[21:03:47]<mrchrisadams>hi guys - I'm assuming if you're using aegir, you've have to handle unattended open atrium install profiles at some point
[21:04:15]<mig5>openatrium install profiles are automatic, no user input required, in aegir
[21:04:57]<mrchrisadams>mig5: that's what I thought - does aegir rely on drush calling site-install when building up new instances of a platform?
[21:05:47]<mig5>not quite, but it's similar to drush site-install
[21:06:03]<mig5>aegir came first though (before site-install) so it's provision, our drush extension, that walks through the install, creates the database etc
[21:06:15]<mig5>the difference being aegir goes further and also creates the apache config and restarts apache, etc.
[21:06:32]<mrchrisadams>okay, does provision use an http client to fake web browser for the install process?
[21:06:36]<mig5>no
[21:06:45]<mig5>it's able to bootstrap drupal directly (via php) similar to drush
[21:06:49]<mig5>no http requests
[21:07:15]<mig5>so litterally php-cli calls
[21:08:13]<mig5>one day we may just depend on drush site-install, since there's probably a lot of code duplication now. but eventually aegir might not be drupal-specific and so we can't depend on drush like that (we might make it possible to, uh, install wordpress sites :) )
[21:08:48]<mrchrisadams>heh, if only wp had an equivalent to drush - we end up using rake and capistrano here
[21:09:18]<mig5>my favourite ticket http://drupal.org/node/1044692
[21:09:37]<mig5>Issue tags:alien, crazy, multi-platform, shit, skynet, WordPress
[21:09:59]<mig5>scariest thing is we'll probably make it happen one day :)
[21:11:08]* noecc has joined #aegir
[21:15:49]<mrchrisadams>mig5: is it possible to use drush provision without using all of aegir?
[21:19:38]<mig5>mrchrisadams: it's *possible* but with some constraints
[21:19:55]<mig5>some features aren't available without the frontend, such as migrate / clone (which are pretty useful)
[21:20:11]<mig5>but you can build platforms and install sites from cli only
[21:20:29]<mig5>http://lists.aegirproject.org/pipermail/aegir/2011-January/000026.html
[21:20:35]<mrchrisadams>I have a single site I'm trying to set up for continuous integration, and drush site-install doesn't complete the installation process, so I was looking into using drush provision on the commandline, as a more reliable approach instead (I was curious that your php cli implementation seems to complete the install successfully where site install fails)
[21:21:18]<mig5>for continuous integration it's perfect: we use it ourselves in jenkins to test aegir installs, platform builds from drush make and automatic installs of drupal 6, 7 and openatrium sites
[21:21:33]<mig5>everytime someone commits to the aegir proejct, a vps is built in rackspace and that happens
[21:21:40]<mig5>so that link above will help you out
[21:21:55]<mrchrisadams>reading now...
[21:21:58]<mrchrisadams>thanks amigo
[21:22:24]<mig5>the process is scriptable, a couple steps: build your platform (drush make), save the 'context' or drush alias for that platform, then save a context / alias for a site on that platform and then run drush provision-install
[21:22:46]<mig5>and you can add --debug to drush provision-install to get the full install profile task process, will help identifying issues
[21:27:24]<mig5>there you go, a real example, openatrium http://pastie.org/private/uc2xldzu9gfc0qq4bzcvfg
[21:30:30]<mrchrisadams>this assumes the whole aegir get up installed in /var/aegir, right?
[21:32:51]<mig5>well at the least, drush, drush make and provision, yes
[21:34:39]<mig5>probably need some more commands there if you don't intend on installing the full aegir
[21:34:51]<mig5>to save the server-wide context for drush, that the platform context depends on

[00:14:11]<FatGuyLaughing>I've added the local.settings.php file to one of my sites that is managed by aegir. In this file I would like to change the upload_max_filesize to be 128M. I have tried using the ini_set() function but the upload_max_filesize says it can only be changed from the php.ini , .htaccess or httpd.conf. So is there a way to change this on a per site basis where aegir wont eventually overwrite later.
[00:16:03]<FatGuyLaughing>Never mind found the link ghankstef had posted me yesterday.

I'm trying by adding a conf file to apache like suggested herehttp://community.aegirproject.org/node/341 . However, this is still global and need a per-site basis. I don't want to modify the per site conf file in the vhost.d because I believe aegir manages and maintains those files.

[04:20:39]<ghankstef>FatGuyLaughing: actual y you can do it here:
[04:20:43]<ghankstef>\/var/aegir/config/includes/global.inc
[04:21:04]<ghankstef>and use php $_SERVER vars to detect site
[04:21:33]<ghankstef>or perhaps better in the local.settings.php
[04:22:07]<ghankstef>which you have to create but settings.php in aegir will include these files if they exist
[04:28:19]* scientist has joined #aegir
[04:40:01]* lolmaus has joined #aegir
[04:42:38]<FatGuyLaughing>ghankstef: In the local.settings.php you can't set the php_value memory_limit because it's a PHP_INI_PERDIR which has to be loaded at the .htaccess, php.ini or httpd.conf is what php.net says.
[04:43:07]<FatGuyLaughing>ghankstef: So from what I've read I believe that it has to be loaded at the apache conf level.
[04:43:33]<FatGuyLaughing>ghankstef: You can override things that are in the session.blabla for php_value in the local.settings.php
[04:43:33]<ghankstef>yould put a php.ini in the drupal root dir
[04:44:00]<ghankstef>would not be per site but per platform
[04:44:10]<FatGuyLaughing>ghankstef: At that point its plat... yeah hehe

[05:13:31]<FatGuyLaughing>joestewart: Ok so if I did the VirtualHost thing I'm not sure how I would give an entry per site because each site has the same address on aegir just different header info.

[08:23:21]<acaben>Getting a weird (to me) error when trying to backup a site through the front end. Was hoping someone might be able to lend a hand.
[08:28:06]<acaben>var/aegir/platforms/drupal-6.19/sites/mysite.com/files/ could not be fetched from remote server aegir. Changes might not be available until this has been done. (error: ssh: connect to host aegir port 22: Connection refused rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes received so far) [receiver] rsync error: unexplained error (code 255) at io.c(635) [receiver=3.0.3])
[08:29:05]<acaben>And...I'm an idiot.....Needed to make sure the hostname on the server was right and that fixed it

[09:10:54]<acaben>There's a note that says " if you receive an error, you might also try adding the site to your new Aegir platform (using the same platform and site name, of course). Then run the provision-deploy again." but I'm not sure what it means to "add the site to your new aegir platform"
