[14:37:07]<cweagans>Whenever I try to install open atrium, I get an out of memory error in the Aegir install logs.
[14:37:12]<cweagans>Does anyone know why that would happen?
[14:37:22]<cweagans>the cli memory limit is 512M
[14:37:59]<cweagans>and the php-fpm limit is 256M
[14:45:09]* Yoshi123 has quit (Quit: Yoshi123)
[14:45:44]<cweagans>omg…the php process owned by aegir is consuming > 512MB of memory. I just tried reinstalling the site and watched the usage with `top`
[14:45:48]<cweagans>that *can't* be normal
[14:49:54]<cweagans>anybody? I'm really desperate here - we're in a coding competition right now and aegir is preventing us from working :
[14:49:57]<cweagans>:/ *
[14:54:32]<cleanpixel>does the same happen with other platforms?
[14:54:43]<cleanpixel>or versions of open atrium?
[14:55:46]<cweagans>cleanpixel: not with other platforms, but with all versions of open atrium, yes
[14:55:51]<cweagans>i've tried re-creating the platform too
[14:55:53]<cweagans>nothing works :/
[14:56:13]<cleanpixel>so, something with open atrium itself then...
[14:57:12]<cweagans>yeah :/
[14:57:15]<cweagans>i'm trying a CLI install
[14:57:20]<cweagans>per http://mig5.net/node/346
[14:58:13]<cleanpixel>cannot try the normal aegir-admin?
[14:58:14]<cweagans>ouch. it allocated 545M, and the server ran out of memory.
[15:00:56]<cleanpixel>sorry, very late here...
[15:01:03]<cleanpixel>but good luck :)
[15:01:26]<cweagans>the aegir frontend is throwing out of memory errors :/
[15:01:30]<cweagans>thanks cleanpixel :/
[15:02:45]<cleanpixel>hm - if the frontend bugs, perhaps reconfiguring apache?
[15:02:51]<cleanpixel>but 500mb is a lot, though
[15:04:30]<cweagans>cleanpixel: I'm on nginx. but the problem is when the backend runs
[15:04:42]<cweagans>cleanpixel: it's consuming over 500m when the backend install task executes

[04:49:56]<storyleader>Hi! I have a cloud server devoted to hosting Aegir sites and another FTP server for backup. Can anyone suggest a backup strategy? I want to have weekly backups of the sites, of course, but I also want whatever I might need to recreate the whole server, including the Aegir config, which has been time-consuming to get right. What would you suggest?

[07:35:02]<realityloop>darthsteven: on my API site - cron task I'm getting the following error, but the command works fine from terminal: http://pastebin.com/XeiA8KHC

[07:35:46]<darthsteven>you're running the cron task with Jenkins?
[07:36:01]<realityloop>yes thats Jenkins output
[07:36:19]<darthsteven>but you have an aegir user too, hosting the api site?
[07:36:22]<realityloop>here is the aegir drush alias http://pastebin.com/tpkXJ31b
[07:36:35]<realityloop>no.. aegir is running as my own user
[07:36:44]<darthsteven>ah right
[07:36:51]<darthsteven>is that the same user as Jenkins?
[07:36:58]<realityloop>darthsteven: as per our OSX setup instructions
[07:37:16]<realityloop>how do I tell what user Jenkins is running as?
[07:37:17]<darthsteven>that would be my first guess, that Jenkins isn't executing cron as the same user
[07:37:26]<darthsteven>run a Jenkins job with the command
[07:37:33]<darthsteven>whoami
[07:37:43]<darthsteven>and it'll tell you
[07:38:08]<darthsteven>if it's the wrong user, then you'll have to use sudo or su to run it as the correct one I guess
[07:38:34]<realityloop>+ whoami

[07:40:26]<darthsteven>what do you get if you execute that command in your terminal?

[07:41:00]<darthsteven>nah

[07:42:55]<realityloop>sudo: no tty present and no askpass program specified
[07:43:39]<darthsteven>you'll need to add the ability for your jenkins user to execute that command using sudo

[09:16:28]<realityloop>no
[09:16:36]<darthsteven>right
[09:16:38]<realityloop>The drush command '@api.ld status' could not be found. [error]
[09:16:38]<realityloop>A Drupal installation directory could not be found
[09:16:49]<darthsteven>hmmm...
[09:16:52]<darthsteven>bizarre!
[09:17:00]<realityloop>tell me about it :)
[09:17:26]<darthsteven>oh!
[09:17:46]<darthsteven>maybe the paths are not correct somehow
[09:17:50]<darthsteven>maybe
[09:18:16]<darthsteven>exit back to your terminal and run:
[09:18:22]<darthsteven>su -s /bin/bash jenkins
[09:18:28]<darthsteven>and try running the command again
[09:18:39]<realityloop>I've already set the shell for jenkins to bash
[09:18:53]<darthsteven>ah righto
[09:19:04]<darthsteven>that's me out of ideas then :(
[09:19:19]<darthsteven>I really don't know why that doesn't work
[09:19:33]<realityloop>when you installed jenkins you just used the OS X installer?
[09:19:46]<darthsteven>I think so
[09:20:02]<realityloop>just confirmed echo $path returns same for both too
[09:20:09]<darthsteven>I'm pretty sure Jenkins was just running as me, and not jenkins though
[09:20:35]<darthsteven>you could just run cron in the normal Drupal way, using a web request with curl or something?
[09:21:06]<realityloop>but the command with sql bit in it will still fail?
[09:21:21]<realityloop>yeah I need to try and get jenkins running as me
[09:23:56]<darthsteven>sorry I can't help more
[09:25:42]<realityloop>darthsteven: well thanks for trying

[09:33:18]<darthsteven>ah right
[09:33:29]<realityloop>but thats fixed it :)

[09:46:51]<darthsteven>mrfelton: Only servers, but you can associate services with sites in your own code
[09:47:24]<mrfelton>darthsteven: that's what I'm rating to do
[09:47:58]<darthsteven>mrfelton: You'll want to look at the hook_hosting_context_options hook
[09:48:03]<mrfelton>I'm trying to write a plugin/service for to enable can support for a site
[09:48:16]<mrfelton>darthsteven: What I have so far is so nearly working
[09:48:41]<mrfelton>The hosting component works, and the provision component works - but I'm unable to connect the two properly
[09:49:00]<mrfelton>I need to be able to save an additional option into the site's alias file
[09:49:02]<mrfelton>https://github.com/systemseed/provision_cdn
[09:49:24]<mrfelton>sp[ecifically https://github.com/systemseed/provision_cdn/blob/6.x-1.x/hosting/hosting...
[09:49:58]<mrfelton>If I shove debug statements in hosting_cdn_hosting_site_context_options, I can see that $task->context_options['cdn'] is being set right
[09:50:25]<darthsteven>mrfelton: are you declaring the option in your backend service?
[09:50:33]<darthsteven>Otherwise it wont get saved
[09:50:41]<mrfelton>darthsteven: by doing what?
[09:51:01]<mrfelton>$this->context->setProperty('cdn', array(), TRUE);
[09:51:05]<mrfelton>https://github.com/systemseed/provision_cdn/blob/6.x-1.x/provision/Provi...
[09:51:26]<mrfelton>I read about using subscribe_site(), but that doesn't work either
[09:51:39]<mrfelton>I don't think that exists in the versions that I have
[09:51:43]<darthsteven>http://www.computerminds.co.uk/articles/storing-data-aegir
[09:51:48]<darthsteven>Have a read of that
[09:51:55]<mrfelton>darthsteven: I have read that article over and over again!
[09:52:03]<darthsteven>Ah :(
[09:52:07]<mrfelton>but it's referencing different code to what I have
[09:52:32]<mrfelton>I'm using Barracuda latest stable, and whatever versions of hosting and provision come with that
[09:52:52]<darthsteven>subscribe_site is the key method
[09:53:02]<darthsteven>You may be using provision 2.x in that case
[09:53:19]<mrfelton>darthsteven: I think its is 2.x yes
[09:53:25]<mrfelton>subscribe_site never gets called
[09:53:28]<darthsteven>Which is very crazy IMHO I'm not sure why Barracuda is using that
[09:53:57]<darthsteven>Sorry!
[09:54:06]<mrfelton>I know, its seems bizarre to mix latest stable aegir with provision 2.x
[09:54:52]<mrfelton>so, is subscribe_site 1.x only?

[09:58:45]<realityloop>darthsteven: the Jenkins job had following error: WD cron: Cron run exceeded the time limit and was aborted.
[09:59:33]<realityloop>darthsteven: is that just upping php memory limit? http://pastebin.com/bQBnJ1CB
[10:02:53]<mrfelton>If I call `drush @alias provision-verify --cdn_service_type=basic` manually from the command line, then my new can config file gets created, although the can dns names are blank
[10:03:47]<mrfelton>If I edit ~/.drush/alias.alias.drushrc.php and add in an entry for the can domain names manually, and then run the provision-verify command again, then I get my desired result
[10:04:24]<mrfelton>The problem that I'm having is that my service doesn't seem to be getting called when I verify the site in aegir
[10:04:50]<mrfelton>I'm confused about how I'm supposed to get --cdn_service_type=basic passed to the backend
[10:09:49]<mrfelton>ahha!! :)
[10:10:20]<mrfelton>so, I moved stuff from my can subclass, to the main class. (from provision/Provision/Service/cdn/basic.php to provision/Provision/Service/cdn.php) and it works now
[10:10:52]<mrfelton>Really, I want to be able to set the subclass to use based on wether the associated server is apache or nginx
[10:11:16]<mrfelton>but I have no idea how to make aegir do that
[10:16:19]<darthsteven>You should note that because of the auto loader you don't need to put your classes in provision any more, your drush extension can live elsewhere
