[14:01:59]<fndtn357>Error: Call to undefined function drush_backend_invoke_args() in /usr/share/drush/commands/provision/install.hostmaster.inc, line 149
[14:02:49]<ergonlogic>well, the first thing is that it looks like provision is installed in the wrong place
[14:02:52]<fndtn357>based on the ln -s command earlier saying it should see a config file apache.conf in aegir
[14:02:54]<ergonlogic>or possibly two places
[14:03:00]<fndtn357>hmm
[14:03:12]<ergonlogic>/usr/share/drush/commands/provision/...
[14:03:21]<fndtn357>let me check
[14:03:48]<fndtn357>it is there
[14:04:42]<fndtn357>and it also exists in /var/aegir/.drush/provision
[14:05:03]<fndtn357>should i manually remove it from /var/aegir/.drush
[14:05:09]<ergonlogic>sure
[14:05:16]<ergonlogic>you can alway put it back
[14:05:16]<fndtn357>ok
[14:07:04]<fndtn357>under /var/aegir/.drush/ also exists cache with two directories below -default and -usage
[14:07:28]<ergonlogic>check which version of drush you're running
[14:07:38]<ergonlogic>it looks like you have drush 5
[14:07:53]<ergonlogic>but Aegir 1.x is only compatible with Drush 4
[14:07:57]<fndtn357>drush version 5.6
[14:07:59]<fndtn357>oops
[14:08:11]<fndtn357>used the pear installl command
[14:08:16]<fndtn357>got this version
[14:08:27]<fndtn357>uninstall and install 4.x?
[14:08:48]<ergonlogic>yes
[14:08:57]<ergonlogic>did you use 'pear install drush/drush-4.6.0' ?
[14:09:54]<fndtn357>just generic no special version request (wasn't in the installation instructions that i could see)
[14:10:02]<fndtn357>i can uninstall and reinstall
[14:10:28]<ergonlogic>http://community.aegirproject.org/installing/manual#Install_drush
[14:11:14]<fndtn357>duh
[14:11:57]<fndtn357>drush/drush is already installed and is newer than detected released version 4.6.0 install failed
[14:12:06]<fndtn357>ok now to uninstall
[14:12:09]<fndtn357>and reinstall
[14:15:11]<fndtn357>life is good with drush

[14:20:09]<ergonlogic>you've re-installed provision?
[14:20:21]<fndtn357>can see the provision dir under /var/aegir/.drush and no where else
[14:20:43]<fndtn357>yes
[14:22:12]<ergonlogic>hmm
[14:22:37]<ergonlogic>do you see the 'hostmaster-install' command listed in 'drush help'?
[14:23:27]<fndtn357>one minute drush status looks ok
[14:23:55]<fndtn357>no provision commands are included
[14:24:32]<fndtn357> how do i add those to drush
[14:25:03]<fndtn357>running a whereis drush: /usr/bin/drush.bat /usr/bin/drush
[14:25:05]<ergonlogic>you said ou have a /var/aegir/.drush/provision directory?
[14:25:09]<fndtn357>yes
[14:25:25]<fndtn357>is ther a symbolic link I am missing
[14:25:39]<ergonlogic>there shouldn't be
[14:25:41]<fndtn357>ok
[14:25:57]<ergonlogic>drush should look in ~/.drush/ for additional commanfiles
[14:26:28]<fndtn357>hmmm
[14:26:36]<ergonlogic>try downloading it again
[14:27:41]<fndtn357>the drupal-6.x-1.9?
[14:27:49]<fndtn357>should i remove it first?
[14:27:58]<ergonlogic>umm, drupal?
[14:29:19]<fndtn357>provision - eh
[14:29:43]<fndtn357>so i do and it will overwrite
[14:29:47]<ergonlogic>drush should squash an existing extension, if you download it again
[14:29:52]<fndtn357>and then rerun hostmaster-install?
[14:29:58]<fndtn357>ok
[14:30:00]<ergonlogic>well, see if you can...
[14:30:50]<fndtn357>so far same Drupal installation driectory coudl not be found
[14:31:13]<ergonlogic>but you see the command now?
[14:32:31]<fndtn357>see hostmaster.install.inc inside of provision
[14:32:46]<ergonlogic>and in drush?
[14:32:46]<fndtn357>and install.hostmaster.inc
[14:33:04]<ergonlogic>any provision commands
[14:33:05]<fndtn357>nope
[14:33:05]<ergonlogic>?
[14:33:31]<ergonlogic>you're operating as the 'aegir' user?

[14:37:06]<ergonlogic>check permissions, maybe?
[14:37:14]<ergonlogic>of .drush
[14:37:41]<ergonlogic>otherwise, you could try installing provision in drush/commands
[14:37:52]<fndtn357>ok
[14:38:03]<fndtn357>live in /home/aegir
[14:38:12]<fndtn357>no /var/aegir
[14:38:14]<ergonlogic>???
[14:38:48]<fndtn357>but when I rerun the command useradd --home-dir /var/aegir aegir I see that it already exists
[14:39:06]<fndtn357>maye I shoul dremove it again and add it again
[14:39:08]<fndtn357>?
[14:39:41]<fndtn357>when i run echo ~ as aegir user it shows /home/aegir
[14:39:43]<ergonlogic>you should be able to change it with usermod
[14:39:45]<fndtn357>ok
[14:39:53]<ergonlogic>that'd be the problem, then
[14:40:11]<ergonlogic>-d
[14:40:34]<fndtn357>-d ?
[14:40:39]<fndtn357>change directory
[14:40:41]<fndtn357>?
[14:40:55]<ergonlogic>usermod -d /var/aegir aegir
[14:41:15]<ergonlogic>'-d' is the option to set a user's home
[14:41:26]<fndtn357>thx
[14:43:18]<fndtn357>but when i run su -s /bin/bash aegir i am in a bash shell without seeing aegir in front of my line
[14:43:31]<fndtn357>running echo ~ does in fact return /var/aegir
[14:43:49]<fndtn357>are you out of patience yet?
[14:44:00]<fndtn357>;)
[14:44:02]<ergonlogic>you may not have a .bashrc in /var/aegir
[14:44:10]<ergonlogic>nope :p
[14:44:11]<fndtn357>aaahhh
[14:44:13]<fndtn357>ok
[14:44:32]<ergonlogic>ok, so try 'drush --filter=provision'
[14:44:47]<fndtn357>i do but this is the only line alias drush=/var/aegir/bin/drush/drush
[14:44:55]<fndtn357>and running drush help causes errors
[14:45:37]<ergonlogic>alias drush=/var/aegir/bin/drush/drush ?
[14:45:44]<ergonlogic>is that where drush is isnatlled?
[14:45:50]<ergonlogic>installed
[14:45:53]<fndtn357>not
[14:46:10]<fndtn357>so i guess it is time to whereis and change the alias
[14:46:14]<ergonlogic>then unalias drush
[14:46:35]<ergonlogic>you shouldn't need an alias
[14:46:48]<ergonlogic>a link to drush shold be somewhere in your $PATH
[14:46:49]<fndtn357>ok

For smallish sites with little dev work going on, do peeps normally just leave platforms as they are after importing or build make files and profiles for them?
