[13:31:49]<gboudrias>mglaman: The platform is most likely not identical if it runs updates. Also, 7000 is u
[13:32:24]<gboudrias>7000 wouldn't usually run unless you have some pending updates on the original site
[13:33:25]<mglaman>gboudrias: Arg. I was afraid of that. Not sure what's screwing up on my end then, thanks for verifying!
[13:33:27]<mglaman>gboudrias++
[13:33:30]<gboudrias>Probably run Verify on the original site and see if it has any pending upgrades
[13:33:38]<gboudrias>(db updates I mean)

[13:35:13]<mglaman>Yeah that's why I was really confused
[13:35:26]<gboudrias>Yeah something's weird
[13:35:29]<mglaman>So it's probably platforms don't match up, or this site is screwed and missing an update
[13:35:36]<mglaman>Which might make sense. It's giving us some grief

[06:05:27]<blainelang______>I have a clean Debian 7 server and been following the automatic steps as per http://community.aegirproject.org/node/400 Step 8 is installing Aegir2 and apt-get responds with The following packages have unmet dependencies: aegir2 : Depends: aegir2-provision (>= 2.1) but it is not going to be installed Depends: aegir2-hostmaster (>= 2.1) but it is not going to be installed
[06:06:37]<blainelang______>Now, apt-get install drush installed v4.5 and so I removed that version and installed 6.5 manually (got the same error). Removed drush 6.5 and installed 5.10 and still same error.
[06:07:36]<blainelang______>If I try to install aegir2-provision then I get this error -> The following packages have unmet dependencies: aegir2-provision : Depends: drush (>= 5.10) but 4.5-2~bpo60+1 is to be installed
[06:08:11]<blainelang______>leads me to believe it still thinks drush 4.5 is installed but it's not
[06:08:40]<blainelang______>anyone have a few ideas as I've exhausted google :)

[06:28:28]<bgm>blainelang: what's the output of "apt-cache policy drush"?
[06:29:25]<blainelang>root@adpro:~# apt-cache policy drush drush: Installed: (none) Candidate: 4.5-2~bpo60+1 Package pin: 4.5-2~bpo60+1 Version table: 5.10.0-2 1001 700 http://debian.aegirproject.org/ stable/main amd64 Packages 5.4-1 1001 700 http://ftp.ca.debian.org/debian/ wheezy/main amd64 Packages 4.5-2~bpo60+1 1001 100 http://backports.debian.org/debian-backports/ squeeze-backports/main amd64 Packages
[06:29:42]<blainelang>thanks bgm for jumping in
[06:31:43]<blainelang>I did setup a /etc/apt/preferences/drush file
[06:32:04]<blainelang>Package: drush Pin: release a=squeeze-backports Pin-Priority: 1001
[06:32:04]<bgm>blainelang: can you use paste.debian.net? if i read correctly, it's pinned to drush 4.5 ?
[06:32:40]<bgm>blainelang: drush 5.x is in the aegir repo
[06:33:18]<blainelang>http://paste.debian.net/139626/
[06:33:48]<blainelang>Any issue with me installing Drush 5.10 manually via github ?
[06:35:38]<blainelang>Looks like I presently have drush 6.5 installed as per drush --version. It needs to be 5.10 right
[06:35:53]<gboudrias>blainelang: aptitude (and apt-get) won't be aware of anything installed manually. It won't change anything as far as the packaging system is aware.
[06:36:45]<bgm>blainelang: can you remote the debian-backports pin?
[06:37:27]<blainelang>you may be speaking abit over my head on that one ;)
[06:38:03]<bgm>blainelang: what's in /etc/apt/preferences/drush ?
[06:38:26]<gboudrias>blainelang: Generally, either you install everything manually or you install everything through apt-get. Downloading stuff through github is the manual solution, and apt-get won't care.
[06:39:59]<blainelang>http://paste.debian.net/139627/
[06:40:16]<blainelang>gboudrias: gotcha
[06:41:28]<bgm>blainelang: i think it's safe to remove that file
[06:42:02]<blainelang>k - will do. I had also added this to sources.list deb http://backports.debian.org/debian-backports squeeze-backports main
[06:42:24]<bgm>that's oK
[06:42:43]<bgm>it's just that the settings in /etc/apt/preferences/drush were saying to "pin" (prioritise) squeeze-backports
[06:43:29]<bgm>(and Debian 7 = wheezy, so you probably want wheezy-backports, if necessary)
[06:43:53]<blainelang>true
[07:06:57]<blainelang>apt-get install drush has now installed drush 5.10
[07:08:35]<blainelang>thanks guys, I now have a configuring Aegir2-hostmaster screen
[07:12:45]<blainelang>can Aegir be installed if the MySQL root user was removed and 'admin' user added instead?
[07:13:32]<blainelang>It was given to me this way - may be best if I just add it back
[07:17:08]<cweagans>Yeah, you can do that
[07:17:21]<cweagans>You'll need to pass a param to hostmaster-install, though
[07:17:36]<cweagans>don't remember offhand what it is, but you can see the list with `drush help hostmaster-install`
[07:17:40]<cweagans>should be pretty obvious
[07:18:48]<bgm>if you're using the debian package, i think you can override the debconf setting for db_get "aegir/db_user"
[07:20:09]<bgm>"debconf-show aegir2-hostmaster"
[07:20:24]<bgm>echo "set aegir/db_user admin" | debconf-communicate
[07:20:32]<bgm>but imho, just simpler to re-add the root user ;)
[07:25:57]<blainelang>bgm agree, it's just a default user everywhere

[08:25:55]<blainelang>This server has Plesk on it and wonder if that's going to be an issue. It appears to be doing something odd with the way vhosts are setup. Any experience ?
[08:38:26]<cweagans>Yes, it's going to be an issue.

[08:38:38]<cweagans>Aegir doesn't do well if you have other panels installed
[08:38:45]<cweagans>and I'm not sure why you'd want to do that anyway.
[08:39:16]<blainelang>the apt-get install aegir completed cleanly but could not get the hostmaster to launch
[08:40:16]<blainelang>It's the way the server was given to me. Oh well. should be easier the 2nd time :)
