[05:13:48]<bgm>wacky cache question: on a plain Aegir 3.x, is there a specific cache/cron task that would flush the cache in a different way than "drush cc all" ?
[05:14:23]<bgm>context: every morning, something goes missing from my Views (that pull in data/fields from CiviCRM). When I refresh the CiviCRM cache, it fixes the issue.
[05:14:32]<bgm>but if I "drush cc all", the bug does not occur

[06:08:17]<ergonlogic>bgm: civicrm_cron, maybe?
[06:12:51]<bgm>ergonlogic: civicrm_cron launches the "scheduled jobs", but this site I was testing on didn't even have the hourly "cleanup temp data and files" (which I should, but it's not the cause of the issue)
[06:14:16]<bgm>for now, I setup a nagios/icinga2 check to warn me when the view breaks, so that I have more info on the exact time, which should lead on which cache gets refreshed (i hope) :)
[06:14:46]<bgm>oddly the only civicrm person who is also having this issue is also running aegir
[06:15:20]* Yaazkal has joined #aegir
[06:27:39]<ergonlogic>bgm: is it relatively recent?
[06:29:50]<ergonlogic>do you have scheduled nightly backups or anything?
[06:30:52]* rominron_ has joined #aegir
[06:32:22]<bgm>ergonlogic: it's a new site (hosted on aegir 3.4, symbiotic vps), and on another site (hosted at koumbit) we oddly do not have the issue
[06:33:15]<bgm>problem is, the bug is pretty hard to trigger. The fields just disappear after a day, and if I edit the custom field definition in CiviCRM, click save (which flushes the civi cache, but not drupal iirc), then the View is fixed

[06:35:38]<bgm>betwen the Views cache, and CiviCRM cache management, not sure which is worst ;-)
[06:36:01]* rominron_ has quit (Ping timeout: 252 seconds)
[06:40:50]<bgm>I'm almost wondering if it's related to nginx. The koumbit site runs on apache, and the other person also running into the issue also uses nginx
[06:41:10]<bgm>but I don't see how that would make a difference.. both use APC, and I restarted php-fpm for run, no impact.
[06:43:29]<bgm>hmm, another site on apache, on our infra, same drupal/views/civicrm versions, not having the issue

[08:49:01]<cweagans>Hey ergonlogic
[08:49:05]<cweagans>So re that deploybot thing
[08:49:14]<cweagans>I'm looking at a couple different paths
[08:50:00]<cweagans>One is just building on top of https://factor.io/ -- maybe just slap a nice UI on top of it and call it good. All of the heavy lifting would then be provided by Factor.
[08:50:53]<cweagans>Another path is to build a frontend to Jenkins - essentially create "Project" nodes in Drupal, then create build jobs underneath that and set up different triggers & behaviors. All of that info would then get pushed to Jenkins, and Jenkins would be responsible for running the jobs, logging output, etc.
[08:51:12]<cweagans>Another would be to use Drone.io - that's essentially an all-in-one package, but I've run into some issues with it
[08:51:36]<cweagans>Finally, I was looking at https://github.com/ergonlogic/frigg and that might be another good way to go
[08:52:17]<cweagans>Essentially, I just want a straightforward way to detect a new commit/tag in a repo (hosted anywhere - not just Github) and perform some action
[08:53:20]<cweagans>For my case, the primary thing will be receiving webhooks from Github, cloning the repo, running `bundle install`, running `jekyll build`, and then rsync'ing the resulting _site/ contents to a shared hosting account.
[08:53:29]<cweagans>But eventually, it might be useful to have Aegir or Aegir NG as a target
[08:54:07]<cweagans>This would be useful to users that may not necessarily need multi-node Kubernetes clusters to run their sites, but they still want nice deployment tools.
[08:54:50]<cweagans>We could offer it as an open source project + potentially offer a hosted version via the coop to fund other Aegir development.
[08:56:52]<colan>bgm: ergonlogic mentioned that you had a fork of https://www.drupal.org/project/hosting_services on github somewhere? what's that url & what did you change?
[08:57:09]<colan>gboudrias: what's the status of the one on d.o?
[08:58:32]<bgm>colan: https://github.com/coopsymbiotic/hosting_restapi ?
[08:58:49]<bgm>colan: it's rather crude, and gboudrias has been more active on that front
[08:59:32]<bgm>colan: you can see it in action here (if it works.. ahem): https://crm.symbiotic.coop/en/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=1&a...
[08:59:38]<colan>bgm: thanks, so which is more up-to-date then?
[09:00:05]<bgm>no idea, sorry
[09:00:11]<colan>(as in, i hope these aren't 2 divergent forks.)
[09:00:14]<colan>ah, ok.
[09:00:29]<bgm>we had a use-case, and just scratching our own itch
[09:00:49]<bgm>I'm not a huge fan of drupal "services" module, and tend to think in more civicrm-model
[09:01:04]<bgm>then again, the rest model i implemented is kind of wonky.. :)
[09:01:31]<bgm>I wanted something that works with a simple token auth, easy to poll to get the status of the site in real time, etc
[09:01:32]<colan>everything i've run into in this space is kinda wonky...
[09:01:50]* colan nods
[09:01:50]<bgm>we also have provision_symbiotic, which uses the token for post-install setup
[09:02:03]<bgm>https://github.com/coopsymbiotic/provision_symbiotic
[09:02:10]<bgm>again, very crude, since this isn't in prod yet
[09:02:24]<bgm>but when the site finishes post-install, it queries the CRM to get the client information
[09:02:52]<bgm>we also plan on using that token to do things like let the client run "verify", or possibly "git pull" tasks, without accessing Aegir
[09:03:48]<bgm>(I don't our clients to access the Aegir UI, since yet another auth to handle, UI to polish, etc)
[09:05:07]<colan>right, so it's a civicrm solution.
[09:05:22]<ergonlogic>sorry all, my IRC notifications weren't popping up. Catching up now
[09:05:30]<bgm>gboudrias had worked on making it more generic
[09:05:50]<colan>bgm: i'll pick it up with him then.
[09:06:15]<bgm>imho, civicrm is a good option, if you need to handle billing :)
[09:08:35]<ergonlogic>just updated the calendar event to remove the google hangout. sorry about the confusion
[09:17:27]<colan>ergonlogic: would be good to replace it with the appear.in URL.
[09:17:34]<ergonlogic>anarcat: hi! thanks for the thoughtful write-up about keybase.io
[09:21:27]<anarcat>ergonlogic: hey snothing :)
[09:22:44]<ergonlogic>colan: yeah, it doesn't let me. I did post the appear.in link as the 'location' though...

[09:55:57]<ergonlogic>cweagans: so, I've been thinking of small components that we could stich together. One of the first would be a way to monitor git(hub|lab) repos without specifying a webhook
[09:56:05]<ergonlogic>using pubsubhubbub, maybe
[09:57:07]* hestenet has quit (Remote host closed the connection)
[09:57:51]<ergonlogic>the Feature server I was talkng about, for example, could perhaps monitor the repos you're interested in, and track new tags/releases, for example
[09:58:21]<ergonlogic>this sort of thing could make Drush Make be able to resolve the latest version for libraries
[09:58:36]<ergonlogic>just like it does for drupal.org-hosted projects
[09:59:07]<ergonlogic>or, for that matter, drupal modules and themes hosted on github
[09:59:11]<ergonlogic>or anything, really
[10:03:19]<ergonlogic>anyway, my point is that such an updates server would need something that could generate it's own webhooks, essentially
[10:03:35]<ergonlogic>which sounds llike it'd be in common with your needs
