[23:10:30]<jonpugh>Anyone have any ideas how a site could lose it's database credentials, or how to get it back in order?
[23:12:53]<jonpugh>drushrc.php has credentials that don't work, and apache vhost is missing the environment variables for DB completely.

[00:08:49]<colan>how can we change the link to the handbook on http://www.aegirproject.org/ ?
[00:08:59]<colan>it's still pointing to community.
[00:09:40]<colan>actually, a bunch of links are.

[06:24:52]<roycroft>hello, folks
[06:25:02]<roycroft>i'm not an aegir person, but an experienced systems admin
[06:25:23]<roycroft>my boss asked me to clone a site to a new machine, and i have a problem with that
[06:25:41]<roycroft>the site is in drupal 7, if that makes a difference
[06:25:55]<roycroft>what i did was create a new vm for the clone (debian jessie)
[06:26:09]<roycroft>i installed all the requisite bits on the clone
[06:26:17]<roycroft>i copied the platform to the new vm
[06:26:33]<roycroft>i then went into aegir, created a new server that points to this new vm
[06:26:55]<roycroft>i then created a new platform, which is the platform i copied to the new vm (and a copy of an existing working platform)
[06:26:59]<roycroft>i verified the platform
[06:27:12]<roycroft>then i cloned an existing site that uses the platform i copied
[06:27:32]<roycroft>then i verified the new site
[06:27:52]<roycroft>all this went well, but when i now access the new site i get the drupal installer page instead of the main index page
[06:28:05]<roycroft>and i don't see how/why that is happening
[06:28:14]<roycroft>any insights would be appreciated
[07:15:42]<ergonlogic>roycroft: is your db server accessible from the new VM?
[07:16:02]<ergonlogic>by default the DB server is on "localhost", to avoid having to alter /etc/my.cnf
[07:16:28]<ergonlogic>but, obviously, 'localhost' won't resolve to a remote db server
[07:22:32]<roycroft>i'm running mysql on the new vm
[07:22:36]<roycroft>and the database is being created
[07:22:39]<roycroft>i just checked
[07:25:25]* theMusician has joined #aegir
[07:34:43]<ergonlogic>when you copied over the platform, did you remove the site directories?
[07:35:02]<ergonlogic>generally, you'd create the platform locally on the master server
[07:35:15]<ergonlogic>then Aegir would rsync it out to the remote server
[07:39:01]<roycroft>i copied the platform on the master server
[07:39:05]<roycroft>i removed the site directories
[07:39:20]<roycroft>then i made a tarball and copied that to the new vm
[07:39:38]<roycroft>in the past, aegir has not successfully been able to copy the platform itself - i'm not sure why
[07:39:52]<roycroft>but this is what has worked for my boss in the past, and he asked me to do it the same way
[07:40:24]<roycroft>then i created and validated the platform, then cloned, imported, and validated the site
[07:41:07]<roycroft>i can try deleting the platform, then deleting the copy of it on the remote vm, then recreating the platform as you suggested
[07:41:22]<roycroft>i have a meeting right now though, and won't be able to get back to that until the morning
[07:41:32]<roycroft>but that will be my next step
[07:41:37]<roycroft>thanks for your input, btw
[07:44:37]<ergonlogic>let us know how it goes
