[00:53:31]<nicxvan>how do you tell aegir that a platform uses a subdirectory?
[00:54:03]<nicxvan>I have a git repo that I used to create a platform, but drupal is in the /web directory so the verification fails because aegir is looking at the root of the project
[00:56:51]* drupal917 has joined #aegir
[00:57:12]<drupal917>Hi, I am playing around some with aegir. I have installed a platform and some sites. I am looking at the packages list but seem to be unable to view the edit page for any package, access denied.
[00:57:17]<drupal917>Am I not supposed to be able to view those pages or is there something wrong?
[01:06:10]* JennaM has quit (Ping timeout: 260 seconds)
[01:40:53]<nicxvan>drupal917: what are you trying to do with the packages
[01:43:47]<drupal917>well, not anything in specific. Trying to verify that I installed everything correctly.
[01:43:59]<nicxvan>Yeah I don't think you need to worry about thouse
[01:44:03]<nicxvan>those
[01:44:30]<drupal917>hm, really?
[01:44:33]<drupal917>how come?
[01:44:53]<nicxvan>Looks like they are used as configuration
[01:45:15]<drupal917>so you can edit package nodes?
[01:47:18]<nicxvan>I cannot
[01:47:22]<nicxvan>and I know I installed it correctly
[01:50:28]<drupal917>huh, alright.
[01:50:35]<drupal917>well, thx.
[01:50:56]<nicxvan>You will usually be just creating sites platforms and clients
[01:51:02]<nicxvan>though clients are not always necessary
[01:51:12]<nicxvan>First you create a platform and get it verified
[01:51:20]<nicxvan>then you can create sites from that platform
[01:52:33]<drupal917>It is still bugging that I have that link "edit" which I am unable to access. :(
[01:54:49]<drupal917>but you are probably right. Feels like a hard coded access deny. Tried installing module nodeaccess to give me access and tried listing reason for being denied with devel module. But nothing. :(

[06:27:17]<jonpugh>nicxvan: did you enable the subdirectories module? I've never used it but I know its a separate module
[06:27:44]<jonpugh>check /admin/hosting under "Experimental": Site subdirectories

[06:32:06]<nicxvan>jonpugh: thanks, just enabled that but don't see how to do anything with it
[06:32:12]<nicxvan>I think that's related to sites, not platforms
[06:32:52]<jonpugh>ohh i see what you mean
[06:32:55]<jonpugh>you mean like "docroot"
[06:32:56]<jonpugh>?
[06:33:00]<nicxvan>yes
[06:33:09]<jonpugh>that module allows sites to be installed at a path of a domain name
[06:33:19]<jonpugh>put your code on the server manually
[06:33:28]<jonpugh>then just include "docroot" in the platform path
[06:33:48]<nicxvan>thanks jonpugh not sure why I didn't try that, I thought it was for where it would clone
[06:35:00]<nicxvan>let me see if that works
[06:35:03]* shaneonabike1 has quit (Ping timeout: 245 seconds)
[06:35:22]<jonpugh>well it is if you are using hosting_git :|
[06:35:31]<nicxvan>yes, I am using git
[06:35:44]<jonpugh>Hosting Git.module (TM)?
[06:35:48]<nicxvan>and the project has a subdirectory
[06:35:50]<nicxvan>yes
[06:36:00]<jonpugh>it doesn't support that then :)
[06:36:03]<nicxvan>well I'm deploying from git
[06:36:14]<jonpugh>It should
[06:36:55]<jonpugh>you'll have to either SSH in and manually call `git clone`, help patch hosting_git to have a 'repo_path' property or use devshop
[06:37:02]* noecc has left #aegir ("pax")
[06:37:21]<nicxvan>I will patch hosting git
[06:37:27]<jonpugh>I solved this in devshop with a "path to drupal" property on project nodes. Seen http://getdevshop.com?
[06:38:16]<jonpugh>That would be great, I'm one of the original authors of hosting_git, but I stopped using it for a while to have more control with devshop
[06:38:38]<jonpugh>It needs that feature. A separate repo_path, not just platform_path.
[06:39:04]<nicxvan>So repo path would be where it should clone into?
[06:39:09]<nicxvan>and platform would be to drupal?
[06:41:35]<jonpugh>yes
[06:41:43]<jonpugh>platform_path must be the full path to drupal
[06:42:20]<jonpugh>or you'll have to patch all of aegir

[07:53:58]<niccolox>thanks hefring and jon, xenial didnt work, apologies, I regressed to Trusty and it worked as expected
[07:54:23]<niccolox>tried a bunch of xenial dependency issues, but no joy, maybe its LXC container specific
[08:02:39]<niccolox>anyways, thanks
[08:03:00]<niccolox>I updated that my PHP 7 META issue
[08:03:05]<niccolox>thanks and cheers for now
[08:03:48]<niccolox>apologies, this is a rush migration off a server which was hosting the aegir summit etc sites, I have a few sites on there I want off before hosting renews

[10:04:22]<nicxvan>jonpugh: got a second to run through where the repo get's cloned and the platform path generated in hosting_git?
[10:04:44]<nicxvan>I added the form item to record the repo subdirectory where drupal is in the repo
[10:05:16]<nicxvan>but I don't see where it get's cloned or where publish_path gets set
[10:36:55]* christefano has quit (Quit: christefano)
[10:42:49]<jonpugh>nicxvan: that stuff is in the drush command
[10:43:06]<nicxvan>I saw where the checkout happens
[10:43:18]<nicxvan>but I don't see how the site path gets set originall
[10:43:22]<nicxvan>originally
[10:43:29]<nicxvan>or platform path
[10:43:46]<nicxvan>seems like platform_provision does that
[10:44:08]<jonpugh>You don't have to change the platform path, make sure that gets set right in the front end
[10:44:33]<nicxvan>hmm
[10:45:02]<nicxvan>I thought I would need to add a new form element to track the subdirectory where drupal is in the repo
[10:45:16]<nicxvan>then I would need to change publish path so aegir would know too
[10:45:30]<nicxvan>I mean we'd want git to clone in the /platforms directory
[10:46:02]<nicxvan>but then get the verification to look at platforms/platform-name/sub/directory/drupal
