[23:51:48]<jonpugh[m]>helmo42: ergonlogic[m] colan[m] bgm Please see https://www.drupal.org/node/2912579 I think if we focus on command-parity we can switch from drush-powered provision to symfony-console without too much pain.
[23:51:48]<hefring>https://www.drupal.org/node/2912579 => [META] Move provision off of Drush [#2912579] => 3 comments, 1 IRC mention
[23:55:13]<helmo42[m]>jonpugh_: I'll have a look later today ... I also intend to do a 3.12.1 then
[23:56:09]<jonpugh[m]>awesome...
[23:56:22]<helmo42[m]>A quick review of https://www.drupal.org/node/2912760 would be apreciated ... not that we need to create a new release for the hosting packages but it would be good to have that tested before the next big release

[23:56:23]<jonpugh[m]>I've got the basics of `bin/provision save` going
[23:56:41]<jonpugh[m]>https://twitter.com/jonpugh/status/913764072352620550
[23:57:37]<jonpugh[m]>helmo42: so you want to install everything with git?
[23:59:37]<helmo42[m]>well yes, we already get them from git in hostmaster.make and aegir.make... just not the one we use for stable releases.
[00:08:21]<TwoD>::1
[00:13:13]<jonpugh[m]>helmo42: You might want to look into using an alternate makefile for CI builds
[00:13:39]<jonpugh[m]>I recently did that for devshop: https://github.com/opendevshop/devshop/blob/1.x/build-devmaster-travis-f...
[00:13:53]<jonpugh[m]>I'll comment on the issue.
[00:21:30]<kristofferw>jonpugh[m], I have running several Aegire servers and around 100 sites. I could start helping with the new Aegir 4 branch. Is there something I should focus on?
[00:22:14]<kristofferw>Currently we install Aegir using Ansible and the manually steps (rewritten in Ansible). So it should not be to diffecult to setup Aegir 4 also in similar way.
[00:23:35]<kristofferw>I think also that I should be able to install Aegir 4 side by side of Aegir 3 but with different hostmasters. But the site aliases files my conflict.
[00:24:04]<kristofferw>A separate aegir system user might be best.
[00:27:34]<jonpugh[m]>I'm considering Provision 4.x as a separate CLI project that can be dropped in to replace provision 3.x
[00:28:12]<jonpugh[m]>No need to totally rewrite Aegir now, although it's good to hear you have ansible and manual install experience
[00:28:53]<jonpugh[m]>Have you seen http://galaxy.ansible.com/opendevshop
[00:33:53]<kristofferw>No, have not seen it. But in general it looks good, but there is always some small stuff I would like to change. :)
[00:34:30]<jonpugh[m]>I'd like to make these more official, please Fork and PR :)
[00:34:46]<jonpugh[m]>As for provision 4.x: https://github.com/aegir-project/provision
[00:35:53]<jonpugh[m]>See src/Command folder. We will need a new command class for every drush provision-* command
[00:36:18]<jonpugh[m]>So there's plenty of grunt work to copy paste from provision.drush.inc
[00:38:43]<kristofferw>I will have a look. Do you just use the normal hostmaster 3.x?
[00:45:50]<jonpugh[m]>yes
[00:46:07]<jonpugh[m]>Not even at that point yet.
[00:46:09]<jonpugh[m]>Just testing local command runs
[00:49:16]<jonpugh[m]>colan[m]: ergonlogic[m] bgm Please consider this when discussing in person today? https://www.drupal.org/node/2912579

[04:56:25]* helmo has changed the topic to Aegir hosting system 3.12.1 released! http://docs.aegirproject.org/en/3.x/release-notes/3.12/ | Planning for AegirNG has begun: https://gitlab.com/aegir/aegir | IRC Logs: https://hefring.mig5.net/bot/log/aegir | Scrum/Coop: Thursday's 18:00 UTC
[04:57:11]<helmo42[m]>I've just released provision 7.x-3.12.1
[06:01:05]<colan>jonpugh_: Can I rename that meta issue from "Move provision off of Drush" to "Move Aegir off of Drush" as that's the more general issue?
[06:01:06]<colan> I'll keep your idea as one of the options, and then add ours once we've got something (working on it now).
[06:01:35]<jonpugh[m]>Is it though? Interaction with sites will still use drush
[06:01:39]<jonpugh[m]>hostmaster drush commands will still exist
[06:01:56]<jonpugh[m]>`drush @hostmaster hosting-task` wouldn't change
[06:02:06]<jonpugh[m]>or i mean, it would still be a drush command
[06:06:24]<colan>yeah, that's a good point. hmm.
