[23:07:09]<colan[m]>jonpugh: helmo42 Were either of you guys planning on doing the release? https://www.drupal.org/project/hostmaster/issues/3143165
[23:07:10]<hefring>https://www.drupal.org/project/hostmaster/issues/3143165 => Debian package for core 7.70 [#3143165] => 0 comments, 1 IRC mention
[23:07:40]<colan[m]>Not sure who's still using the Debian package. :)
[23:21:34]<bgm[m]>What's the recommended way to upgrade, other than the package?
[23:33:27]<viashimo>ACTION still uses the package
[00:06:13]<colan[m]>That is the recommended way, but we've switched over to using the Ansible role mostly. Sorry; I didn't provide enough info there.
[00:12:23]<colan[m]>(So I may not be the best person to try it.)
[00:37:04]<bgm[m]>I also use the Debian package, and doing a git pull does seem simpler, but I guess many people silently depend on the Debian package. If there's something I can do to help, I'm not too familiar with the packaging, but I can try.
[00:47:20]<bgm[m]>Would anyone be interested in participating in a conf-call on the future of Aegir? The project is slowly winding down, and I wonder what the next year looks like. Writing a new hosting tool in 2020 sounds odd, but I'm not sure what the alternatives are.
[00:49:54]<viashimo>i would
[00:50:18]<viashimo>I can also help with debian packaging, I've done some for other things
[02:33:26]<shaneonabike>ACTION still uses the package
[02:34:44]<shaneonabike>bgm[m]: what do you mean it's slowly winding down... meaning b/c it's built on d7 it has an EOL??
[02:35:09]<shaneonabike>also I guess with composer it is less friendly - or at least I've found some hickups
[02:50:06]<bgm[m]>My understanding is that there are a few architectural issues that need fixing and it's not a quickfix. There's also much less active dev now than before.
[02:53:31]<shaneonabike>makes sense
[02:53:52]<bgm[m]>..not that I'm active myself in aegir core. d7 was released 9 years ago, that kind of coding style is not easy to work with.
[02:53:52]<shaneonabike>i can help in testing or whatever you guys need
[02:57:27]<bgm[m]>colan/ergonlogic/helmo/memtkmcc/jonpugh do the heavy lifting. I'd be curious to hear their thoughts and if there's work we could fund to help move things forward.
